JAMB Is Collaborating With Some Universities To Exploit Students – A Letter Written By Awunah Pius Terwase

Sir: The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations UTME, formerly known as Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, in coalition with many universities in the country has been duping or rather robbing students in the name of JAMB admission letter.

JAMB and universities offer admission to qualified candidates but sometimes, only the universities make their admission letters available to all their candidates, while JAMB releases its admission letters to few numbers of candidates.
During screening by the universities after the offer of admission, candidates are expected to present the admission letters issued by both the JAMB and the university.

However, this is where JAMB and the universities rob students or rather, the candidates.

Any student that is not having JAMB admission letter during the screening, the school will collect a certain amount of money from you in the name of processing your JAMB admission letter.
Thereafter, some universities after collecting the money, they will do nothing about it until your final screening before the graduation, the same university that once collected your money to process your letter of admission from JAMB but has failed, will still ask you to present your JAMB admission letter.

At this point, students go to nearby JAMB office for their admission letters and the officials of JAMB also collect money from them before releasing their letters. Is that fair?

As I write now, potential corps members from the various universities have been asked by their schools to provide their JAMB admission letters before they could fill and submit their NYSC’s mobilisation form.
